Effectively Meet the Needs of Diverse Elementary Students
Elementary school teachers in grades 1-6 must be able to meet the wide-ranging needs and learning levels of a diverse student population, and have a firm grasp of the varied subjects they have to teach. Assuring that graduates acquire this breadth of knowledge is an overarching characteristic of Lesley's Elementary Education offerings.
Lesley's elementary education programs emphasize attention to the child as an individual and teaching that child effectively in the context of our commitment to inclusive education, linguistic/cultural diversity, technology, and assessments that track a student's progress from unit to unit, subject to subject, and grade to grade.
Lesley offers a range of Master's-level programs leading to initial or professional licensure in Elementary Education. These programs are designed for those who wish to build and strengthen their content area knowledge, pedagogical skills, and understanding of students with language and learning differences.
We also offer a 14-month field-based Master's program leading to initial licensure, as well as an off-campus non-licensure program designed for in-service elementary teachers who wish to enhance their knowledge and expertise. Our Collaborative Internship programs give students field-based experience in a variety of local, affiliated schools.
