In and Around Town
Lesley has everything you'd expect; a student center on the campus quad, living spaces that range from renovated Victorian homes to traditional residence halls to themed housing options. Together with Cambridge and Boston, Lesley offers you all the culture, energy and opportunity that only a major metropolitan area can bring.
Live at the heart of it all
The eclectic mix of restaurants, clubs, shops, and live music venues serves as an ideal backdrop for those seeking a vibrant college scene.
A few facts to give you the neighborhood flavor:
- We're 563 steps from outstanding Japanese Udon soup
- 1,000 yards from public transit
- Within ½ mile of 12 museums
- Lesley students will pass 24(?TBD) restaurants walking from our Quad to Porter campus.
A few, maybe more important, facts:
- Lesley has a 13:1 student/faculty ratio
- An average class size of 16-20
- Our students are working in the field, at some of the most influential, and newly emerging, companies, schools and not-for-profits in the United States
So yes, here you can get away from it all at the Natural History museum, but you can also head to the Lizard Lounge near campus, hit the Middle East for music, or just listen to the buskers in Harvard Square as you wander around on a Saturday checking out shops.
A shuttle bus to help you get there
Until The Art Institute of Boston moves to its new home on our Cambridge campus, we will continue to run shuttles between Kenmore Square, in Boston, and Cambridge. Forget your T pass? Just hop the shuttle.
The biggest college town in the world
Finally an example of where following the crowd is okay. More than 250,000 students come to live in this area each year. With them come ideas, inspiration, fun, a thriving student scene and a neighborhood feel practically everywhere you turn. Boston, as well as Cambridge, are cities filled with opportunity.
Be a part of it
Lesley students are not spectators. They get out there and mix it up. They plug into the politics of the area, help out with causes, and support local issues in a way many other colleges can't deliver. Here, you might host a Halloween party for kids who live in a homeless shelter, plant trees along the Esplanade, work at a start-up in Kenmore Square, or dive into some of the big issues that drive your mind.
If there's one thing that connects Lesley students, faculty, and staff, it's their shared commitment to making a difference here, right in their own backyard.
