New Teacher Education Programs Now Available

Lesley University is proud to unveil a large number of new Master's and Certificate programs designed to help teachers address their professional challenges.

Master's Degree Programs

Effective Teaching M.Ed.
If you have 5 plus years of experience and want to improve both your pedagogical skills, and content knowledge, the Effective Teaching Master's is an ideal choice. The program utilizes state of the art technology that allows Lesley faculty to assess participating teachers as they work in their classrooms with students. The technology also provides participants with a way to document improved performance. The Effective Teaching Master's is a wholly online 33-credit program that debuts in Fall 2012.

Educational Technology M.Ed.
K-8 teachers, media specialists, librarians and school-based IT professionals will love how this flexible 33-credit online program enables them to create a degree that perfectly matches their professional needs. Participants choose 7 elective courses from 6 focus areas, enabling them to customize a program that can wholly emphasize technology or teach them how to best utilize educational technology in critical content areas. Each of the program's three technology strands can also be completed as a stand alone certificate:

Individually Designed M.Ed.
Each student is different. Each classroom is different. But one thing all teachers have in common is the need to address complex learning needs. Lesley's 33-credit online Individually Designed Master's gives you the freedom to choose the topic areas and individual courses that best meet your learning goals. Begin your program with 9 electives and complete it with two action research courses that help synthesize your learning. Choose from more than 50 courses.

Elementary Education and ESL Dual Licensure M.Ed. leading to initial licensure
Offered at Lesley's Cambridge, MA campus and at multiple sites throughout Massachusetts, the dual licensure Elementary Education and ESL program prepares teachers to be effective with culturally and linguistically diverse students. Program participants benefit from two supervised practicums and will be well prepared to meet the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education's impending requirements for ESL certification for all teachers.

Certificate Programs

Teachers looking to improve their craft, and in many states add an endorsement or second license, can choose from Lesley's broad range of online certificate programs.

Programs to fit your lifestyle

On Campus

Lesley offers classes at our Cambridge and Boston campuses that meet evenings during the week, over the weekend, or combine off campus study with a short residency (also called a low-residency program), which typically last one week. The low-residency format is used for our MFA programs, and is an option for adults pursuing a Bachelor’s or a Ph.d.

Online

With Lesley, online learning is convenient and engaging. Classes are taught by faculty who are both content experts and skilled at online instruction. Lesley puts particular emphasis on working with software that is freely available, to control costs and enable program participants to use the same tools in their daily work with others.

Near You

Lesley offers advanced degree programs (M.Ed. and Ed.S.) at more than 150 learning sites in 23 states, and also offers many programs leading to initial licensure, as well as degree completion programs, at multiple locations in Massachusetts.
