Curriculum & Instruction - Integrated Teaching Through the Arts: Professional Teacher License or Non-Licensure

Master of Education (M.Ed.), on-campus or off-campus graduate program

Foster the kind of creative thinking that defines generations of learners.

Create arts-infused curriculum to strengthen student learning. Use the arts to engage and motivate students with diverse learning styles and needs. Gain a foundation in theory and new research on arts-informed teaching. And explore creative methods that will help your students meet local and national standards.

Our degree program for current educators is available as a non-licensure program or for MA Professional license. Take classes on campus in Cambridge or off campus in a weekend cohort model at selected sites across the country.

Advance your teaching career. Gain a solid foundation in the arts. Come to view yourself as a more creative person.

Explore teaching strategies inspired by drama, visual arts, music, creative movement, and poetry. Discover how the arts can open new pathways to understanding and expression for students with varied needs. Fuse these concepts as you design arts-integrated curriculum, while examining trends and issues, instructional practices, and assessment methods.

Take a closer look at the many ways to infuse arts into learning through special topic courses, from arts and technology to the language of poetry. In your final course, combine research, practice, and theory to assess your teaching. Pursue a self-designed project that makes an original contribution to your educational community.

“In the process (of integrating the arts) I have been transformed. I have found ways to layer meaning and increase student motivation. I have reexamined my understanding of multicultural, responsive education. I have developed new lenses through which I can see my students and my subject matter more clearly and they in turn, learn at a much deeper level.”
