Students in the Specialist Teacher of Reading program have to complete a 150-hour practicum experience that focuses on the various aspects of the role of the reading and literacy specialist in today’s school setting. The faculty and staff of the program will assist you in identifying and securing practicum placements with an appropriate supervising practitioner.

If you are currently in a teaching position, you have the option of doing this in that position (with program director approval); if not, you will have a school setting arranged for you. We build and maintain partnerships with schools and educators to enable students to gain valuable classroom experience in preparation for their future profession.

The documents below explain the process that students should follow to have a successful practicum experience.
