16th Annual PEACEABLE SCHOOLS and Communities
Summer Institute Overview
Creating Peaceable Schools and Communities:
Supporting Leadership for Hope and Justice
June 29 - July 2, 2008
"There can be no perfect democracy curtailed by color, race or poverty. But with all, we accomplish all, even peace." --W.E.B. DuBois
Schools and communities are rich with resources for creative, justice-oriented leadership and hope. But schools and communities also exist in contexts of violence, inequity, fear, disconnection and a sense of helplessness that is interpersonal and institutional.
How can educators, youth workers, youth, children, families and community leaders create schools and communities where peace, justice, leadership and hope are alive and well?
The Summer institute offers: 4 days of keynotes, workshops, networking, reflection groups, celebration and open space to promote relationships, tools, knowledge and a holistic framework that begins with the individual, understands the roots of peace and justice, and promotes a collaborative, transformational leadership approach.
Graduate credit and scholarships available.
