Plenary Session
Universal Design for Learning With Bart Pisha and Brenda Matthis
How do we learn? From neurobiology, through evolutionary psychology and socio-cultural studies, to technology, to art, design and architecture, there are exciting new discoveries and understandings. Imagine joining the insights of all of these into "Universal Design for Learning" inspired by architectural design and pioneered by neurophysiologist David Rose.
Join us for an opening session that introduces the concepts of Universal Design. Bart Pisha and Brenda Matthis, former colleagues of David Rose and faculty in the School of Education, will lead us through an interactive presentation examining how the brain works while providing practical examples of how a few simple changes or enhancements to our teaching and learning can transform the experience for all students.
