Center for Academic Achievement Peer Tutor ProfilesBelow are profiles of some of our current peer tutors at the Center for Academic Achievement. (Follow this link to profiles of the Center staff. Jamie BaldoumasJamie is in her junior year at Lesley College. She is majoring in Early Childhood Education and plans to work with infants and toddlers in the future. This is her second year tutoring at Lesley, and she also tutored in high school. She looks forward to helping students meet their full potential Christopher BockChristopher Bock is a graduate of the Low Residency M.F.A. Program in Creative Writing; Poetry. He holds a B.A. in English Literature and Criticism from Stony Brook University. He recently completed a graduate assistantship at the George Edward Woodberry Poetry Room through Houghton Library, Harvard University. New writing appears in Harvard Review, Tuesday, An Art Project, The Noise Boston and at frigidember.com, and is forthcoming in Death Metal Poetry. Beginning Fall 2007, he will serve for two years as the Senior Fellow in Creative Writing at Lesley College. His areas of interest include poetry and poetics, contemporary literature, independent music, modern art and culture. Rachel BrightbillRachel is a recent graduate of Lesley College. She graduated in May, 2007 with a bachelor's in Art and a Minor in Management. Her course experience includes art history and management, some studio courses, and internships. This semester she is tutoring art history and writing. Dianne BrownMy name is Dianne Brown and I am a senior in the Elementary Education/English program at Lesley University. My interests include poetry, zombie movies, and saving the world. I enjoy working with all students, especially those with a love for literature and the desire to become better writers. Allie BullimanAllie is in her final year of the Dance Therapy + LMHC Program at Lesley's Graduate School of Arts and Sciences. She loves working with other Expressive Therapy students, as well as learning from all of her tutees. Constance Del NeroI am a GSAS student in the Creative Arts and Learning division. My interests include art and writing. I tutor for the MTEL-Massachusetts Test for Educator Liscensure. If not fully booked, I am also available to assist with proofreading and editing papers. Jennifer DinesMy name is Jennifer Dines, and I am an MTEL tutor. I am a graduate of the Creative Arts and Learning and Elementary Education Master's Program at Lesley and an employee of the Boston Public Schools. I enjoy helping Lesley's dedicated and energetic pre-service teachers to pass their MTELs. I am also strong in supporting the needs of people who use English as their second language. Brynn DizackMy name is Brynn Dizack. I am working on a Masters of Fine Arts in the Low Residency program at AIB. I graduated with a BFA in painting in May of 2005, and am now working with a focus on sculpture and installation. My work has been shown selectively in galleries around the greater Boston area. I also teach Elementary School in Brookline, MA. I am always happy to work with CAA students in any subject matter, but especially in Art History and Creative Problem Solving. Darby DraftsDarby is a graduate student in the National Programs cohort model for Elementary Education. She also has an undergraduate degree in English from the University of South Carolina. She has previous experience tutoring reading and math for adults who were returning to school after a long absence. She currently teaches English as a Second Language while working as an MTEL tutor at the Center. Christine HayesChristine Hayes is a student of the School of Education, working towards her M.Ed in Elementary Education. Prior to coming to Lesley, Christine received a BFA from the University of Massachusetts at Lowell, and worked as an art specialist for the Somerville Public School system from 1997 to 1999. An MTEL tutor, Christine is very eager to work with and assist other current and prospective educators at the CAA this upcoming year. Katherine JacobsKatherine is in her final semester of the Intercultural Relations Program in the Graduate School of Arts and Social Sciences. She entered the program after several years of working in higher education administration and living for a year in Japan. Katherine is concentrating on International Student Advising with her M Olivia JenningsMy name is Olivia Jennings and I am a freshman at Lesley College. I hope to major in psychology and human services, as I am interested in dealing with and helping people. My interests include writing poems, discovering new bands, women's issues and helping others solve problems. I also love the French language, and enjoy speaking at the "French Tables." I look forward to tutoring people, and helping them with French, so come on by. Kim JohnsonKim is a graduate of Lesley College where she studied middle school education, global studies and history. Currently, she is working toward receiving her Master's Degree in Middle School Political Science/Political Philosophy from Lesley's Graduate School of Education. As a CAA tutor since 2002, Kim provides assistance to students with learning disabilities and ADHD in a variety of subjects. Lynn KreutzLynn graduated from the Adult Baccalaureate College in May of 2004, and is currently enrolled in Lesley's Master's Program of Interdisciplinary Studies specializing in the psychological and social effects of learning challenges. Lynn is also a Special Education Consultant in which she helps parents determine the best educational program for their child as well as providing them assistance in navigating the special education maze within their public school system. She has experience working with families living with: Non-verbal Learning Disability, ADHD and Asperger Syndrome and hopes to someday teach educators at the university level about the myriad ways in which challenges such as these can imprint the lives of children and their families. Kathryn ManzMy name is Kathryn Manz and I am a graduate student in Elementary Education doing a collaborative program with BB & N. I work with students preparing for the MTEL. Grace MuronGrace is a second year student of Clinical Mental Health and Counseling in the Graduate School of Arts and Social Sciences. She plans to graduate in May, 2008. In addition to a broad background in Psychology, Grace has extensive experience in theatre, literature, English language and writing. She is also moderately fluent in Spanish (written and oral). She is particularly interested in women's issues, feminist theory, cross-cultural counseling and pediatric psychology. Laura NadricznyCurrently I am a sophomore at lesley and am undecided on which program I would like to major in,. I tutor math at the CAA, so my major will probably be related to that (since I enjoy it.) I am also passionate about languages. As of now, I can only speak/read/write in English and Spanish, but that will all change. I hope to learn at least some Italian and who knows what else! Among other things, i am also interested in psychology and I love children. Brian SchwartzBrian Schwartz is an adjunct professor at Lesley University and an independent filmmaker. An alumnus of Lesley's Intercultural Relations Masters Program, Brian has worked in education, the arts, social services and journalism. His teaching and tutoring background includes anthropology, ESL, film, sociology, internet job-searching, reading, and math to middle schoolers, college students and adult professionals.Kathy ShekI am in my second year in the Intercultural Relations program in the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences. My undergraduate background is in Psychology, Social Behavior and Spanish. I am interested in working in the field of International Education either in international student advising or education abroad Shannon Van de RietShannon Van de Riet earned a B.A. in Classics from Hellenic College in Brookline, Massachusetts, and a M.Ed. in Special Education at Lesley University's School of Education. Mrs. Van de Riet 's tutoring background includes working with students with learning disabilities and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (AD/HD), as well as English language learners. In addition to working at the Center for Academic Achievement, Mrs. Van de Riet is also a special education advocate at Urban PRIDE, a non-profit agency serving families and youth living in the city of Boston. She believes that every student is capable of success and that a tutor's job is to use creative methods to facilitate each student in achieving their potential for learning and academic excellence. Jennifer ZanolliMy name is Jennifer Zanolli and I am a sophomore at Lesley College. I am currently working towards a degree in business management and history. The area that I tutor is Math, which includes Quantitative Reasoning, Finite Math and Financial Accounting. When I am not tutoring, I enjoy dancing, watching movies, and learning new things. This is my first time tutoring at the Center for Academic Achievement and I am looking forward to meeting and helping my fellow students. Greg ZeskarGreg is currently a graduate student in the School of Education at Lesley, attempting to get his master's degree in Middle School Education, Math & Science. Greg holds an undergraduate degree in Biochemistry from the University of Maine. He has been working as a Research Assistant in the Biopharmaceutical field for the past ten years.
