Ecuador: andes healers to amazon tribesmen

Wisdom of the Indigenous Peoples

This journey begins in the Andes where you will have the opportunity to observe and participate in the healing ceremonies of at least two Quechua shamans (traditional healers) who will use a variety of diagnostic and healing techniques that have been practiced continuously for centuries.

The second half of the journey we fly deep into the Amazon rain forest where you will be guests in the village of Miazal, the jungle home of the Shuar people. Students can earn graduate or undergraduate credit or professional development points (PDPs). Non-credit option available.

  • Stay in a rainforest eco-lodge
  • Homestay with Shuar family in a longhouse
  • Learn local ways of the Shuar Amazon tribe
