Teacher of Visual Arts Program: What You Can Expect to Gain
A sampling of some of the outcomes you can expect upon graduation from one of the Visual Arts programs:
- Knowledge of the theory and practice of the visual arts
- Knowledge of the MA Curriculum frameworks, as evidenced in your work, lesson plans, assessment tools, and portfolio.
- Use of relevant frameworks to plan lessons and learning activities appropriate to all developmental levels.
- Identification of skills, concepts, and vocabulary needed for activities, and design lessons to strengthen student literacy.
- Ability to create and assess curricula.
- Ability to develop inclusive curricula that address diverse student cultures and learning needs.
- Demonstration of working knowledge of Sheltered Instruction to English Language Learners in and out of the classroom.
- Proficiency with technology, including in research, communication, collaboration, and publishing.
- Engagement in arts-based research that contributes to your field.
- Use of assessment results to identify appropriate teaching strategies for discipline and level of English language proficiency.
