On June 22, 2009, the Cambridge City Council voted to adopt a zoning change which allows The Art Institute of Boston at Lesley University to relocate to Cambridge from Kenmore Square, Boston, creating the foundation of an arts district in Porter Square. The proposed move includes construction of a new state-of-the-art facility for The Art Institute of Boston (AIB) on Lesley's Porter Campus and the adaptive re-use and restoration of the historic former North Prospect Church.
