The Interdisciplinary Studies Program at Lesley University offers you
the opportunity to earn a degree specific to your unique interests and
goals. Our students are passionate, motivated individuals who recognize
the interdisciplinary nature of our world and who plan to establish
themselves as leaders in specialized professional fields.
As an Interdisciplinary Studies student, you have three degree options:
Design your Degree
The self-designed option is for those who wish to reach beyond traditional academic boundaries to pursue cross-disciplinary study or niche markets. Example specializations include Autism and Nutrition, Theater Pedagogy, Alternative Education, and Holistic Health and Chronic Pain Management. Mindfulness Studies Specialization
Develop a strong foundation in the history, theory and practice of mindfulness so that you can integrate the practice of mindfulness into your professional practice and personal life. Peace and Conflict Studies Specialization
Ideal for those pursuing a career in human rights or social advocacy, this program provides a theoretical understanding of human conflict and practical training in interpersonal and intrapersonal communication, cultural dialogues, reflection, and mediation skills. Low-Residency Format
Starting Summer 2013, all incoming Interdisciplinary Studies students will attend an 8-day residency on the Lesley University campus in Cambridge, MA.
RESIDENCY 2013: JULY 20th - 28th
The residency provides an opportunity for you to have face-to-face guidance from our expert faculty, and to join your fellow students in an invigorating learning community. While on-campus you will take classes, share meals and networking opportunities with your peers, and get in-person advising. Between residencies you’ll continue your studies in your home community and communicate regularly with faculty and peers via email, phone, and online tools. This format allows for the best of community inspiration and individual attention.
