ENDORSEMENTS
Holders of a Secondary Certificate, Standard Elementary Certificate, Standard Occupational Specialist Certificate, or Advanced Occupational Specialist Certificate may be granted endorsements in subject areas as provided herein. An official statement of competency in a teaching area or field is acceptable in lieu of courses for a teaching major or minor if such statements originate in the department or division of the accredited college or university in which the competency is established and are approved by the director of teacher education of the recommending college or university. To add an endorsement to an existing credential, an individual shall complete the credit hour requirements as provided herein and shall also meet or exceed the state qualifying score on appropriate, state-approved content, pedagogy and performance assessments. When converting semester credit hours to quarter credit hours, two (2) semester credit hours is equal to three (3) quarter credit hours.
To add a Secondary Endorsement to an Idaho credential, the applicant must:
- submit a completed application (Revision of a Current Idaho Certificate/ Credential)
- complete a minimum of twenty (20) semester hours, or thirty (30) quarter hours, of coursework is required in the content area
- meet or exceed the qualifying score on appropriate SBOE-approved assessment(s)
*related subject area endorsement is a prerequisite to receiving either the Natural Science or Social Studies endorsements.

Authorization and Teacher Certification in Idaho
Authorization: Lesley University is authorized to offer programs in Idaho based on the following process: Lesley University holds a Certificate of Registration certifying that it is registered, as required by law, with the Idaho State Board of Education as an accredited postsecondary institution to offer postsecondary programs to residents of this state.
