The Moriarty Library houses specialized collections of art monographs, exhibition catalogs, journals and images that support the visual art and design needs of students and faculty. The library is currently closed in preparation for our move to stunning new facilities in Porter Square, Cambridge.
The Moriarty Library maintains and develops a focused collection that supports the fields of fine arts, art history, illustration, design, animation and photography. Along with a circulating book and DVD collection of over 12,000 items, the library also offers a targeted journal collection, exhibition catalogs and ephemera, and access to over one million high-quality downloadable digital images.
The Library's Visual Resources Collection
contains slides and high quality digital images, which support the art
curricula. The College of Art and Design participates in the ARTstor project, a digital library of
nearly one million images in the areas of art, architecture, the
humanities, and social sciences.
Access to the Library's digital
collections of images, scholarly articles and ebooks is available
online. Print book collections can be searched, requested, and renewed
For research in non-art disciplines, students and faculty
have access to the Lesley University Sherrill Library located near
Harvard Square in Cambridge. The collections of the library are strong
in all curricular areas, with an emphasis on education, psychology,
human services, management, and expressive arts therapies.
Lesley is affiliated with the Fenway Libraries Online,
which allows direct online borrowing privileges and book delivery from
additional Boston art libraries, including Massachusetts College of Art
and Design and the School of the Museum of Fine Arts. Lesley is a member
of the Fenway Library Consortium, which provides walk in borrowing privileges at 16 nearby libraries.
The current facility offers media viewing space as well as group study space and large, open tables for individual and collaborative work.
