What is the Dean's Merit Scholarship?
The Graduate School of Arts & Social Sciences Dean's Merit
Scholarship is awarded newly-enrolling students who demonstrate exceptional merit.
Recipients of the Merit Scholarship should have a strong academic
background, demonstrate leadership skills, and a commitment to the field
of education, the arts, social services, the environment, or
counseling.
Applicable programs include: Counseling Psychology, Clinical
Mental Health Counseling, School Counseling, Intercultural Relations and
Interdisciplinary Studies.
Scholarship Statement
The Graduate School of Arts & Social Sciences is dedicated to the
fundamental principle that the role of higher education is to develop
and nurture a creative, civil, and life-sustaining society. In support
of this mission, our programs seek to recruit, encourage, and support
students who enrich our learning communities with their community or
volunteer experiences; professional experiences; life experiences;
strong academic achievement; leadership qualities; artistic abilities;
and potential to be student ambassadors and later alumni ambassadors.
The Dean's Merit Scholarship Committee encourages the application of
candidates who embody any number of the qualities mentioned above. The
Committee and the Graduate School of Arts & Social Sciences
encourage the application of all candidates without regard to race,
color, religion, sex, age, national or ethnic origin, sexual
orientation, mental or physical disability or veteran status in the
administration of its education policies and scholarship.
Scholarship Eligibility
- Student must be accepted to an on-campus Graduate School of Arts & Social Sciences Master's program.
- Student must have a minimum GPA of a 3.0 in a previous degree program.
- Student must maintain an A- (3.7) average in Lesley coursework.
- Student must fulfill program specific requirements listed on the
scholarship application. - Student must submit a complete scholarship application by
May 15, 2013.
Application Requirements
- Student must have a complete admissions application on file or be accepted to an eligible Master's program.
- Student must submit the scholarship application, scholarship essay, and a current resume to the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences by May 15, 2013.
