Develop Age-Appropriate Skills to Educate Students with Special Needs

Special Education teachers work effectively with diverse student populations in an inclusive environment that also involves collaboration with families, internal teams, and outside agencies. We offer a range of special education Master's and licensure programs in Moderate Disabilities, Severe Disabilities, and dual-license Moderate and Severe Disabilities. Prepare for a rewarding career in a high-need area.

Special Education Non-Degree programs for current teachers (Initial License Only)

Special Education Professional Development programs for current teachers (Non-Licensure)

Special Education Minor within a Bachelor's Degree (WA State)

12-Credit Option for Professional Licensure

For those who already hold Master's degrees, 12 credits of graduate coursework in the subject matter knowledge of the Initial license can be used to meet part of the requirements for the Professional license in that field. This is an individual option listed in the Massachusetts state regulations and not an approved program. Those interested in taking advantage of this option should consult with an Assistant Director of Academic Advising in the School of Education before enrolling in courses.
