Academic Advisory Committee
The Academic Advisory Committee (AAC) addresses a broad array of
university-wide academic planning, policy and implementation issues,
making recommendations to the Provost. This Committee works
collaboratively to address academic issues that transcend a single
school, requiring a cross-university discussion and/or approval. The
committee serves to direct and gather academic matters to one
deliberative, collective forum and exclusively creates any
cross-university working groups that address academic policy or
procedural issues.
Institutional Review Board
The Institutional Review Board
(IRB) is designated to review and monitor biomedical and behavioral
research involving human subjects. In accordance with the Department of
Health and Human Services, an IRB has the authority to approve, require
modifications in, or disapprove research. An IRB performs critical
oversight functions for research conducted on human subjects that are
scientific, ethical, and regulatory. The IRB is co-chaired by the
Associate Provost and the Director of the Division of Research,
Evaluation, and Assessment, and its members are drawn from the various
schools of the University. Individuals at Lesley University conducting
research involving human subjects are required to submit an application
for review by the IRB.
University Council
The UC will provide the best possible advice to the President and the Lesley Community to establish, prioritize and move the University-wide agenda and the development and implementation of the University vision and strategic plan. The UC is vested with the necessary and appropriate authority by the President of the University to discharge its responsibilities. Membership is representative of University stakeholders, and communication is both University-wide and specifically to individual constituencies. A commitment to transparency and openness will be manifest accordingly, via technological and other channels.
