TEACHER CERTIFICATION FOR EDUCATORS in CALIFORNIA
Are you a current educator in California and interested in learning more about the process to add a level or an additional field to your teaching license? If so, read more to help guide you through the process.
Holders of valid Ryan and Pre-Ryan basic teaching credentials may obtain an additional multiple or single subject instruction authorization without completing a full professional preparation program for that credential. California code allows a teacher to obtain an additional teaching credential without completing the full professional preparation program for that credential. Should you have additional questions regarding your teaching credential, contact the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing.

Educator Licensure: Higher education authorization and teacher credentialing approval are separate entities. For more information on teacher credentialing, visit the
California Commission on Teacher Credentialing.
