There are two student employment programs at Lesley University.
Federal Work-Study Program
You Federal Work-Study is a work program funded by the federal government and Lesley University. It is awarded to eligible undergraduate and graduate students who meet all eligibility criteria, who have remaining demonstrated need, and who indicate interest in work-study on the FAFSA, the Free Application for Federal Student Aid. Students may earn up to, but not exceed, the annual amount of Federal Work-Study offered on the Financial Aid Award Letter. In addition, Federal Work-Study funds may not be deducted from a student's billing account. Instead, students receive a bi-weekly paycheck for actual hours worked and may use those earnings to meet personal expenses or to pay for future tuition bills.
An offer of Federal Work-Study on your Financial Aid Award Letter is not a guarantee of employment. Eligible students may be employed on-campus or at an approved off-campus agency. A student may not earn Federal Work-Study funds for any job that he or she is working as an intern for academic credit. However, Federal Work-Study can provide an educational experience outside the classroom that corresponds to a student's educational goals.
Students who are awarded Federal Work-Study will be emailed procedures for obtaining employment two weeks before the start of the Fall semester.
Lesley Works Program
If you did not apply for, or did not receive Federal Work-Study, you may apply for Lesley Works Program positions. This program is fully funded by individual departments within Lesley University which may limit the total number of positions available. Students will be emailed procedures for obtaining Lesley Works employment two weeks before the start of the Fall semester.
In addition, students may also wish to contact the Career Resource Center for a listing of off-campus employment by calling 617.349.8550 or by sending an email to crcjobs@lesley.
Federal Work-Study vs. Lesley Works
The registration and application procedures for Federal Work-Study and Lesley Works are the same, but Federal Work-Study students will be given preferential consideration for available positions. Lesley Works program employees do not have a limit on how much can be earned during the academic year. It is important to know if you are eligible for Federal Work-Study because some departments only have Federal Work-Study positions available, while others have both. If you cannot locate your Financial Aid Award Letter, you can see if you have Federal Work-Study by logging in to your LOIS account (www.lesley.edu/LOIS) and reviewing "Financial Aid by Year."
Required Student Employment Forms
Available Federal Work-Study and Lesley Works Program positions are posted by the Office of Financial Aid approximately two weeks prior to the start of the fall semester. If you wish to be hired for a posted position, all required paperwork should be submitted to the Office of Financial Aid prior to contacting supervisors about job opportunities. To learn more about the types of paperwork required, and the process for applying for jobs on campus, choose which option best describes you:
