Nicole Bearse '00 is named new Alumni Association President
Nicole Sotiriou Bearse ’00 was installed as the new president of the Lesley University Alumni Association on Saturday, May 31, at the annual Alumni Association meeting during Reunion Weekend on the Lesley campus. The council approved Nicole’s installation as president following the resignation of Ayanna Cooper ‘98. Ayanna has accepted a position with the Hawaii State Department of Education and will be relocating to Honolulu, HI.
Nicole is a partner with the law firm of Johnson Newcomb, LLP in Frankfort, Kentucky. Awarded her Bachelor of Science degree in Human Services from Lesley in 2000, Nicole went on to obtain her J.D. from the University of Kentucky in 2003. Nicole’s practice focuses on family law, and she has combined her legal expertise and the skills that she learned at Lesley to become a successful mediator of both domestic and general civil litigation.
Before becoming president of the Alumni Association, Nicole served as chair of the Alumni Awards Committee from 2010-2013 and also served on the Scholarship Committee from 2008-2013.
Nicole believes that the solid foundation that she gained at Lesley, which included an appreciation for making a positive difference in her community and assisting people through tough times, has fueled her approach as a compassionate counselor at law. Nicole says, “being part of the Lesley community has become a part of the fabric of my life, and I cannot imagine not wanting to be a part of every exciting thing that happens here. I look forward to serving Lesley and our 84,000 alumni in new and creative ways as president.”
