A Message from Richard Zauft, Dean of the College of Art and Design
Dear College of Art and Design Alumni,
We have embarked on a new academic semester, our last at 700 Beacon Street in Boston. Ahead lies a new chapter in the history of the School of Practical Art, the Art Institute of Boston, and now the Lesley University College of Art and Design as we prepare for the move to the new Lunder Arts Center in Cambridge in December.
As the new dean of the College of Art and Design, I invite you to join Lesley's faculty, staff, students, and Cambridge communities as we celebrate opening activities in January 2015. We will kick off the exhibition schedule with a juried exhibition of AIB alumni. You will soon receive more information about these opening events. I anticipate welcoming you to the new center and hearing your ideas on how alumni can utilize space for ongoing learning and engagement with students.
The Lunder Arts Center will be a nexus for arts in Cambridge. This will allow us to expand our community programs to arts organizations, artists, and the broader community. Residing in Cambridge, united with academic colleagues and an innovation hub, will offer expanded opportunities for courses and interactions with faculty-ultimately enriching the quality of investment.
Our college expresses sincere gratitude to Dean Emeritus Stan Trecker for his many years of devoted service and leadership throughout the development of this building project and corresponding transition of name change, leadership, and relocation. Alumni and many university leaders have also made tremendous commitments in time and money to the arts-which prove a cornerstone of education at Lesley.
On behalf of all the faculty, staff, and students, thank you for contributing to the diverse history of this institution. We look forward to working with you to shape the future of Lesley University College of Art and Design.
