With our PhD in Educational Studies Individually Designed Specialization, you develop a course of study that directly and precisely relates to your interests and goals. The program's flexibility and the ability to take courses across disciplines allow you to refine your doctoral study plan to reflect ongoing scholarly inquiry and research.
Participate in qualitative and quantitative research, interdisciplinary seminars, and elective coursework, with ongoing support from an advisor and doctoral committee. Independent study is also possible, with faculty within or outside of Lesley.
University Graduate Council (UGC) is a university-wide body that
concentrates on the efficacy of Lesley University doctoral programs.
The council is convened by the Associate Provost and the membership
includes the deans of the Graduate School of Education and the Graduate
School of Social Sciences, the directors of doctoral programs and
specializations, and faculty representatives appointed by the school
Deans. The UGC monitors the coherence and alignment of PhD requirements
and procedures and inquires about the particular academic needs of
doctoral students and about the quality of the scholarship evident in
the research conducted by doctoral candidates.
Advanced Graduate Council (AGC) acts as the advisory board to the
director of the Educational Studies program. Its work includes the
review and evaluation of policies governing doctoral work within the
Graduate School of Education. The Director of the Educational Studies
doctoral program chairs the AGC. Faculty representatives from across the
University are named for a three-year term. Membership consists of the
coordinators of the three program specializations and other appointees
named by the dean of the Graduate School of Education.
