Get Your B.A. and Prepare for a Washington State Teaching Certificate
This Bachelor of Arts completion program is composed of a sociology and social change major and a minor of your choosing, either elementary education or special education. In the major, examine society, social theory, family, and related topics. The minor will prepare you for the WA WEST-E leading to either Special Education or Elementary certification, with challenging coursework and a practicum.
Key program information for the B.A. in Sociology and Social Change with either Elementary Education or Special Education minor:
- For Washington State residents
- Program consists of 27 credits in the major and 28 credits in the minor
- Program prerequisites: Associate’s degree or equivalent; introduction to sociology course (with grade of C or better) that is the equivalent of either Lesley University's CSOCL 1101: Introduction to Sociology or Tacoma Community College's Sociology 101.
- Other admissions requirements include appropriate courses in arts and sciences
- Program prepares you to earn a BA and eligibility for Washington State Residency Teaching Certificate in Elementary Education
