Lesley's Dual Degree program is open to all students in the B.F.A. program at the Art Institute of Boston in any major. Students apply to the Dual Degree program in Art Education by the beginning of their junior year and must be accepted into the program before they begin their senior year.

Dual Degree B.F.A./M.Ed. in Visual Art Education for Initial License as Teacher of Visual Art (Grades PreK-8 or 5-12)

Fall semester: regular program
Spring semester: regular program and American History or World Civilization
Third Year
Fall semester: regular program with Intro to Psychology as Social Science elective
Spring semester: regular program
Fourth Year
Fall semester: regular program with two electives (one social science elective and one general elective) selected from the following M.Ed. courses:
- GARED 6110 - Arts and Education, History & Philosophy
- GARED 6003 - Arts Approach to Multicultural Education
- GARED 5108 - Arts and Human Development
- ICOMP 6393 - Interactive New Media
- IAHIS 5100 - Art History and Cultural Art Heritages
Spring semester: regular program with two additional electives (one Art History and one general elective) selected from the above list of M.Ed. courses
M.Ed. Requirements
Fifth and sixth year will be mapped out by student and Creative Arts in Learning advisor, working together and focusing on the individual needs of the student to fulfill the rest of the requirements of the Master’s program.
