The undergraduate Design program challenges students to communicate solutions and ideas in a clear and visually striking manner, while mastering contemporary methods of graphic and interactive design.
The bachelor's degree program in Design provides visual,
conceptual, and technical skills required to be a successful designer in a
constantly evolving job market. Exploration of both traditional and
modern technologies will be at each student’s disposal to produce a
wide-range of print, web, motion, environmental, and interactive design
Undergraduate Design students will be immediately considered members of the Design department’s community, where connecting directly to faculty whom bring decades of high-caliber experience and are themselves active design practitioners.
Double majors in Design and Illustration, Design and Fine Art, and Design and Photography are also available, enhancing marketability in a professional field where new hires are required to wear multiple hats.
A dynamic and progressive real-world design studio
experience, Studio InFlux teams students with non-profit organizations
that promote social and cultural change. Student-designed projects are used
to communicate each non-profit's message while simultaneously enabling students to apply learned design principles to solve practical problems. The studio is a worthwhile opportunity to improve practical design skills,
enhance portfolios, and gain experience with
Building off of the basic type elements learned in Typography I, students develop a personal typographic voice while improving their real-world problem solving techniques. The aim of this course is for students to learn how to structure information while maintaining proper use of basic type elements. Experimentation with principles learned through each exercise is heavily emphasized as students will apply this new knowledge to more complex problems.
