The Animation and Motion Media bachelor's degree program instructs students in the fundamentals of animation and digital motion media, offering a flexible range of courses to deepen your skills and concentrate in a specialty. Emphasizing strength of concept in addition to graphical and cinematic quality, the goal of the undergraduate animation program is to provide the personal and professional skill set needed to thrive in a competitive creative field and express your personal artistic vision.

Animation graduates will have built a professional portfolio of motion media work, an essential component for success in
the professional animation industry. Our alumni have been hired by major
companies like Nickelodeon, HBO, Soup2Nuts, CloudKid, Blue Sky, Rock
Star, Film Roman, and many others.
The Animation and Motion Media curriculum offers instruction in a wide range of physical and digital tools. These 2D and 3D animation tools range from pencil sketches, to armatured puppets, to digital CGI characters. Students also become well-versed in all forms of visual storytelling, from pure abstract art to interactive games.
The BFA animation program's facilities emulate the environment of a major modern studio,
including a state-of-the-art computer lab and a multi-station
down-shoot room, with a full array of digital video, sound, and
photographic studio equipment
Undergraduate animation majors are taught by a renowned faculty of professional practitioners, providing dedicated and personalized instruction that challenges students to grow and refine their artistic visions and styles of expression.
Student animators are introduced to story-telling and non-narrative structures in animation and cinema, expressed in written treatments, drawings, storyboards, and animatics. Creation of character personalities and their dramatic environment is also covered. The core goal of the course is to explore methods of provoking the imagination and considers the essential ingredients for producing fresh work, in a manner that is lively, thoughtful and evocative.
Students learn how to create true animation on the web that is interactive and scalable using Macromedia Flash. Complete, interactive websites with navigation controls, motion graphics, traditional-style animation, and synchronized sound are explored.
