A new hub for the arts and culture scene in Cambridge's Porter Square, the Lunder Arts Center invites the community to experience Lesley's extensive artistic offerings.
The Lunder Arts Center, which opened in 2015, is named for the Lunder
family, whose visionary philanthropy made the construction of Lesley's
new anchor for the arts community possible.
Adjacent to University Hall
in Porter Square, the Arts Center at 1801 Massachusetts Ave., Cambridge, is
the new home of the College of Art and Design, which for 100 years has nurtured the creativity and shaped the careers of visual arts professionals. Marrying history with contemporary design, the structure's new four-story
building is connected by a glass-walled commons to the restored and relocated North Prospect Church.
The Lunder Arts Center is much more than bricks and mortar—it's a catalyst for advancing engagement with the arts throughout Lesley, our surrounding community, and everywhere our graduates pursue their professions.
Nearly half of all our students and faculty are engaged in the arts, whether at our College of Art and Design and College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, or through our graduate programs in creative arts in learning, expressive therapies, creative writing, and teacher education.
The Arts Center expands our commitment to engaging the community through a robust offering of events and activities, including exhibitions, lectures,
conferences, and symposia. Opening onto Massachusetts Avenue, the ground floor features art exhibition spaces that invite the public in while enlivening the local streetscape. Throughout the Arts Center, you'll find classrooms, studios, digital and other
laboratories, faculty offices, and flexible spaces for collaborative
Partial funding was provided by the Massachusetts Cultural Facilities Fund, a program of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, administered through a collaborative arrangement between MassDevelopment and the Massachusetts Cultural Council.
