The Music minor provides students with an historical, theoretical and practical background in music and music performance.
The Music minor allows students to develop their skills at performance (with an emphasis on voice and piano) and to better understand music as an expressive art form as it has developed over time in different traditions. Following a required core course in Introduction to Form in Classical Music, students pursuing this minor program can apply their creativity to a variety of genres, including Folk, Musical Theatre, and Children's Music.
This course includes preparation of significant and representative choral works. Music fundamentals (theory) are included in the course.
Characteristic music of various cultures is presented. Selections include examples from Europe, the Middle East, Asia and Africa.
