The Counseling Center

OUR MISSION

The Lesley University Counseling Center supports our students in fulfilling the full range of intellectual, emotional, social and spiritual development, as part of the overall educational experience. The major goals of the Center are to empower students to define goals and develop strategies for change to realize greater understanding of self and others, to expand personal potential and to support academic experiences. The Counselors are sensitive to issues of ethnicity, spirituality, culture, sexual orientation, gender, disability, learning differences, and body image.

The Counseling Center offers students the option of utilizing expressive therapies in counseling, including art, writing, and sand tray, in addition to traditional verbal therapy.

OUR SERVICES

Towards these goals, the Center provides services for all on-campus undergraduate and graduate students in degree granting programs. These services include:

  • Individual short-term counseling.
  • Alcohol and other drug information and preventative programming.
  • Psychiatric medication services.
  • Anonymous online mental health and substance abuse self-assessments.
  • Resource and referral services.
  • Consultation to students, student groups, faculty, parents and the Lesley community.
  • Graduate level internship training program.

Counseling sessions are held in confidence and are not recorded on students' academic records. Students in need of, or desiring, long-term counseling will be referred to outside specialists. Students are responsible for the financial obligation for referral services.
